I think work-wise is the best initiative in business and education certainly in my experience,
over the last 40 years. Businesses are embracing it, as are schools.

work-wise is a collective of like minded businesses and individuals who promote and provide opportunities and experiences to educate and support young people to enable them to enter the world of work fit for purpose and to take their place in society as responsible citizens.
Through the now established work-wise Foundation the private sector is taking the lead and contributing both financially and practically in helping prepare young people for employment.
The work-wise Foundation's vision is that: work-wise will be recognised UK wide as an employer led model of excellence that helps stem the increase in youth unemployment: addressing skill shortages that are a barrier to economic growth.
The work-wise programme has been developed to provide young people, our future generation workforce, with a broad range of inspirational, industry focused, work related learning and development experiences supported by employers throughout.
Thus enabling them to better develop the personal attributes and skills, the work-wise essentials, they will need in preparation for future jobs and life.
These work-wise essentials defined by employers are:
- Work Awareness
- Work Attributes
- Work Capabilities
- Work Knowledge & Skills
Work-wise is currently available in the following sectors and will be expanding into more sectors in the near future:
- Engineering
- Manufacturing
