£1 Billion for Apprenticeships!                                 £1 Billion for Apprenticeships!

The Government is spending £1 billion over the next three years to help businesses like yours take on apprentices. We want to make sure you get your share. Did you know there is funding available to help pay for an apprenticeship, that they aren’t restricted to young people and that existing employees can become apprentices? Do you want to find out how apprenticeships can help your business be more productive, competitive and prosperous?

The Learning and Skills Council and Business & Education South Yorkshire have organised a series of events for businesses to find out about the benefits of employing apprentices.

Apprenticeships are a fantastic way for you to get the right person with the right skills and attitude. They equip people with the skills and knowledge to do a better job and motivate people to work harder and more effectively for your business. Good training makes apprentices keen to learn and enthusiastic. Businesses with apprenticeships find it easier to recruit and retain staff, especially as they are designed by business people who know what businesses need.

The Dinnington Dental Practice employs 37 members of staff, eight of whom are apprentices; all of their managers and deputy managers began their careers as apprentices. The Practice believes that apprenticeships are key to the success of the business. Principal dentist Margaret Naylor says; “We believe that good training raises the standard of the service we offer our patients and increases the effectiveness of our workforce. Motivated and trained staff are more reliable, will take less sick leave and will be willing to take on more responsibility.”

You are invited to attend one of the business briefings where you can hear from employers about the value and difference apprentices have made to their businesses. You will also get the chance to talk to someone from the LSC about apprenticeships, funding, how they work and other support available to your business. Places for the events are limited so please book early using the enclosed booking form. Could you please take five minutes to complete the enclosed questionnaire to help us understand your business needs better?

We look forward to seeing you at one of the events in May.

Yours sincerely
